Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of websites, mobile applications, and digital products to evaluate compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
  • Identify digital inclusion issues and provide detailed reports highlighting non-compliance areas.

  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, developers, and product teams to integrate digital inclusion principles from the earliest stages of design and development.
  • Provide recommendations for inclusive design patterns, navigation structures, and content presentation.
  • Work with internal developers to implement fixes and alternative solutions for identified accessibility issues.
  • Provide technical guidance on how to correct code to meet accessibility standards (HTML, CSS, ARIA, etc.).
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for internal teams (designers, developers, content creators) on digital inclusion best practices.
  • Advocate for an inclusive design approach and raise awareness of the importance of accessibility.
  • Stay updated on changes in accessibility laws and best practices, and communicate these changes to the organisation.
  • Facilitate user testing with individuals with different abilities to identify real-world inclusion challenges.
  • Gather and analyse user feedback to improve digital inclusion and usability.
  • Create and maintain documentation on inclusion standards, practices, and fixes implemented within digital projects.
  • Regularly report on project status and improvements to stakeholders and senior management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, ARIA, etc.).
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies (screen readers, voice recognition software, alternative input devices, etc.).
  • Strong ability to conduct detailed assessments and identify complex technical issues.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to recommend feasible solutions.
  • Ability to explain technical issues and best practices to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and training skills to deliver inclusive education across various teams.
  • Experience in managing projects, ensuring timelines are met and solutions are effectively implemented.
  • Familiarity with legal requirements for accessibility in various jurisdictions (e.g., ADA, Section 508, EAA, etc.).
  • Experience working with compliance teams to ensure digital accessibility adherence.

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Testing or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Certification in web accessibility a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in digital accessibility or a related field.
  • Experience with automated accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse).
